Some 1,006 new Covid-19 cases and 12 new deaths have been reported nationwide over previous 24 hours, bringing the total to 111,060 including 9,060 actives cases and 372 deaths, according to the National Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Sisavath Soutthanilaxay told a press conference today that the new infections were detected among 5,100 people tested for Covid-19 yesterday.

Of the total, 1,005 cases were classified as domestic infections and one as imported case-documented in Savannakhet.

Most domestic transmissions were reported in Vientiane with 394 cases, Oudomxay 114, Saravan 106, Bokeo 58, Luang Namtha 52, Xaysomboun 37, Vientiane (province) 35 and Xekong 30.

Some 930 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals nationwide yesterday.
