Laos receives 100,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine from Australia

Some 100,000 doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine arrived in Vientiane today as a donation package from the Australian government.

Another 900,000 doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine are expected to arrive in Laos in coming weeks.

The Australian government aid aims to support anti-Covid-19 efforts in the Lao PDR.

In May, Australia and Laos announced that Australia would provide a grant of AU$15.2 million for the rollout of safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines in Laos, according to Australian embassy in Vientiane.

Australia’s grant will provide around 1 million doses in addition to other critical support such as training of health professionals to safely administer the doses and access to some of Australia’s leading health regulatory institutions.
