Some 208 new daily cases of Covid-19 infection and one death attributed to Covid-19 have been reported over the past 24 hours with the total reaching 144,759 including 1,643 active cases and 635 deaths.

Of the new confirmed cases, 185 cases were classified as domestic infections and 23 as imported cases, according to the National Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

The local infections were detected in Vientiane with 102, Savannakhet 30, Huaphan 14 and Birikhamxay seven. Meanwhile, five each were documented in Xayaboury, Xieng Khuang and Vientiane (province).

Yesterday, some 81 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals nationwide.

As of Mar 9, over 5.13 million people, equivalent to 70% of population in the country, have been vaccinated with at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine with over 4.36 million people, 59.52% of the population, given all recommended doses of the vaccine.
