(KPL) Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune on Dec 5 met with the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam Nguyen Ngoc Tien as the latter was on a working visit to Laos.
At amicable talks, both ministers highly noted that the growing relations and deepened cooperation between the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam have contributed to enhancing the traditional relations, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, governments and peoples of the Lao PDR and Vietnam.
The host noted that the working visit by Minister Nguyen Ngoc Tien and his delegation has contributed significantly to enhancing the close and effective relations between the two ministries of Laos and Vietnam.
He appreciated the collective efforts made by the two ministries in fulfilling the agreement signed by the two ministries for 2015-2020 through exchanging technical assistance and support, and cultural exchanges.
Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune asked the Vietnamese Minister to help nominate the Hin Nam No National Protected Area for UNESCO’s world natural heritage status and device practical and effective mechanisms to ensure the collaboration between the two ministries on the matter.
He also asked the Vietnamese minister to provide short and medium term training as well as scholarships to the central and provincial officials of the Lao ministry, especially those in the provinces located along the Laos-Vietnam border, and continue to support the construction of the National School of Music and Dance.
