Laos’s import-export value reaches 1 billion US dollar

The volume of Laos’s import-export in the first six months of 2022 reached 1 billion US dollars, according to the Lao Trade Portal last week.

Among them, the export value recorded about 456 million US dollars and the import value was about 589 million US dollars with the trade deficit of more than 133 million US dollars (the import and export value in the first six months of 2022 excepted the value of electricity export).

The main export products included mixed gold and gold bars valued at 62 million US dollars, products made of paper was about 42 million US dollars, bronze ore was stood at 32 million US dollars, rubber was about 21 million US dollars, iron ore valued about 23 million US dollars, bananas was about 16 million US dollars, clothes cost about 23 million US dollars, shoes worth about 17 million US dollars, sugar worth about 18 million US dollars and glass and product made of glass worth about 13 million US dollars.

The main import consisted of vehicles (except motorcycles, tractors) valued at 35 million US dollar, diesel was about 101 million US dollar, mechanical equipment (except for vehicle mechanics) was worth about 31 million US dollars, iron and steel products was about 29 million US dollars, pharmaceutical products was worth about 12 million US dollars, plastic appliances was about 15 million US dollars, electrical wires and cables worth about 20 million US dollars, regular petrol and special petrol worth about 25 million US dollars, industrial waste worth about 13 million US dollars and chemical products worth about 14 million US dollars.

Main export countries were China 154 million US dollars, Vietnam 106 million US dollars, Thailand 63 million US dollars, Australia 43 million US dollars and India 13 million US dollars. Imported countries were Thailand 307 million US dollar, China 141 million US dollars, Vietnam 31 million US dollars, United States 39 million US dollars and Japan 13 million US dollars.
