Poor students who wish to further their educations at tertiary institutions will now be allowed to borrow money from the Joint Development Bank (JDB).
Representatives of JDB and the Luang Prabang Teacher Training College (LPTTC) last week signed the MoU on the implementation of the Education Loan Project in Luang Prabang Province.
Present at the event were Deputy Director of LPTTC Mr Thonglor Phounsavath, and the JDB representative who is responsible for the four northern provinces, Mr Vilasack Xayasy.
“The MoU aims to provide modern services and make financial transactions more convenient by issuing ATM cards to students which they can use to pay their tuition fees,” said Director of the JDB branch in Luang Prabang Province Mr Sonephet Inthaphone.
The bank will also provide education loans to students who do not have enough money to continue studying at higher levels for diplomas and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
The event was attended by Director of the Luang Prabang Teacher Training College Bounsouvanh Lattana, teachers, and students.
