The Ministry of Planning and Investment, other relevant organisations and development partners met in Vientiane Capital on June 2 to brainstorm a new manual on the Local Socio-Economic Development Plan (LSEDP).
The new manual on the LSEDP is to be developed according to the existing Participatory Planning Manual(PPM) and the District Socio-Economic Development Plan (DSEDP), aiming to mainstream the two.
Deputy Director-General of Planning Department Liengthong Souphany said, We met and discussed today a manual on LSEDP to ensure the harmonious implementation of a single socio-economic plan of the government. This will also help to come up with a general policy plan of the government, development partners, private sector and other relevant parts to avoid repetition, promote cooperation and create better coordination.
The manual has significantly contributed to better allocation of works for management and local participation in the plan-making process for socio-economic development.
At the end of this year, a lesson-exchange meeting at the central level will be held to review the result of this manual’s performance after operating in Oudomxay and Luang Prabang provinces based on the real experiences of implementation in order to perfect the planning process and use this manual as key to be implemented nationwide every five years and reviewed each year.
