Luang Prabang provincial authorities have earmarked 100 million kip, approx. US$12,000 to improve the Night Market and Ethnic Market – the two are among the hotspots for both domestic and foreign visitors – to create an environment friendlier to the visitors.
Deputy Director of the Urban Development and Administration Authority of Luang Prabang Mr Somdy Phonsavath said that new stalls would be built for local vendors along with toilets at the two markets so that the vendors can sell products in an organised manner and that greater convenience is created for visitors.
The provincial authorities said that the move was to attract more visitors as tourism is among the key economic drivers of the province.
Other activities are being conducted to keep urban areas in Luang Prabang clean and pleasant for visitors.
