Authorities of Luang Prabang City in cooperation with relevant authorities across Luang Prabang province launched on Apr 14 lolaad (a market fair) on the occasion of Pi Mai Lao (Lao New Year B.E. 2566).

An opening ceremony for the event was attended by Mr Somsavat Lengsavad, former central leader, Luang Prabang Governor Khamkhan Chanthavisouk, and representatives of relevant authorities, local people, domestic and foreign visitors.

Handicrafts, clothes, non-timber-forest products, consumer goods, household utensils, beverage, fruits from the province, its neighbours, and from abroad were displayed and sold at the event.

Captive animals were also freed on this occasion.

Apr 14, the first day of Pi Mai Lao B.E. 2566 celebration also witnessed central, provincial and district leaders, local authorities and people joining a sand castle making ceremony on Moungkhoun Island in Chomphet district.
