Malaysia Day Marked In Vientiane

(KPL) Malaysian Ambassador to Laos, Mr Aini Atan hosted a reception party to mark the 62nd anniversary of Malaysia’s National Day and the 86th Malaysian Armed Forces Day in Vientiane on Friday, Sep 13.

Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Thansamay Kommasith, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Khamphao Ernthavanh, representatives of foreign diplomatic corps and relevant officials attended the event.

This year Malaysia is celebrating its 62nd anniversary of its independence with the theme ‘Sayagi Malaysiaku: Malaysia Bersih or love my Malaysia: A clean Malaysia, said Ambassador Aini Atan. The theme clearly emphasizes the importance of unity and patriotism, for the well-being and prosperity of the nation. It is also a projection of high integrity of all Malaysians and by that, rejecting corruption.

This year also marks the 53rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Lao PDR and Malaysia.

Since 1966, the Lao PDR and Malaysia have consistently maintained a brotherly relationship based on trust, mutual respect, goodwill and understanding, according to the ambassador.

Besides promoting the bilateral relations between the two countries, the Embassy of Malaysia in Vientiane is also focusing on promoting people to people relations.

For 2019, the embassy, through the Tourism Malaysia Vientiane, has organized six Familiarizations Trips or FamTrips and sent 12 tour operators and nine media representatives to introduce Malaysia to them and help us in offering attractive tourism packages to the market here in Laos, said Ambassador Aini Atan.

In the first seven months of 2019, over 15,800 Lao people visited Malaysia, an increase of 11.4% compared to last year.
