Manhunt launched for killers of Maguindanao Sur town councilor


BULUAN, Maguindanao del Sur – Police have launched a manhunt for two unidentified gunmen who killed a municipal councilor here on Tuesday afternoon.

Colonel Ruel Sermese, Maguindanao del Sur police provincial director, identified the victim as Buluan Councilor Mohamamd Usman Alamada, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

‘We strongly condemn the murder of Councilor Alamada,” Sermese said in a statement Wednesday, ordering the formation of a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to expedite the investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Alamada and a companion were standing in front of a roadside restaurant near the Buluan District Hospital in Barangay Poblacion when the gunmen attacked at around 3 p.m. The suspects, still unidentified, fled the scene on a motorbike.

“I assure the public that justice will be served, and those responsible will be apprehended,” Sermese said, urging anyone with information to come forward to help resolve the case swiftly.

As of this report, authorities have yet
to determine the motive behind the killing.

Buluan Mayor Babydats Mangudadatu also condemned the attack, describing Alamada as a dedicated public servant who worked for the betterment of the community.

‘To the perpetrators: Know that the law will catch up with you, and the punishment will be severe,’ the mayor said, adding that the local government is cooperating closely with the police to ensure the case is resolved quickly. (PNA)
