MANILA: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. thanked United States (US) President Joe Biden on Monday for his support to the Philippines in ‘a delicate and difficult time’ after the American leader withdrew from the race for the US presidency.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Marcos hailed Biden’s decision to end his reelection bid, calling it a ‘demonstration of genuine statesmanship.’
‘We thank him for his constant and unwavering support for the Philippines in a delicate and difficult time. We wish him well for the rest of his presidency and for all his future endeavors,’ the President said.
Biden withdrew from the US presidential race and endorsed his Vice President, Kamala Harris, as the nominee of the Democratic Party.

Biden offered his “full support and endorsement” for Harris to replace him as presidential candidate in the November 5 elections.
‘Democrats – it’s time to come together and beat [Donald] Trump. Let’s do this,’ he added.
