(KPL) A bridge spanning the Nam Ngum River between Nabong and Thakokhai villages in Pak Ngum district, Vientiane Capital has been handed over to local authorities.
Taking part in the handover ceremony included Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and Vientiane Mayor Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune.
The bridge is 236 m long and 11 m wide with a 1.5 m sidewalk on each side.
A decision to finance the construction with a 103-billion-kip financial grant was made by Mr. Sakxay Vongmalaysith, President of Lao World Real Estate, following the capsizing of a boat which claimed 10 lives, mostly primary school kids, in May 2015.
