The construction of a Nam Ngum bridge spanning between Nabong and Thakokhai villages, Pak Ngum district, Vientiane Capital is expected to be opened for public use by the end of 2018.
Sackchai Wongmalasith, President of Lao World Group decided to build the bridge with his own financial grant following a ferry accident claiming lives of 10 school children in May 2015.
The bridge is 58 percent built since 2016 and expected to be fully built in 2018, said Deputy Director of Vientiane Public Works and Transport Department, Mr Souvivanh Phammahaxay.
The bridge, worth more than 100 billion kip, is designed to be 236 metres long and 11.30 metres wide and equipped with 1.5 m sidewalks.
