National Assembly’s First Extraordinary Session opens

The first extraordinary session of the National Assembly’s ninth legislature was opened this morning under the chairmanship of President of the National Assembly Xaysomphone Phomvihane.
The meeting will be held through Aug 10, 2021.
The opening session of the meeting saw the presence of President Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh, other cabinet members, members of the National Assembly, and representatives of the Lao Front for National Development, mass organizations, and Lao National Veterans Federation.
“This Extraordinary Meeting of the National Assembly’s 9th legislature will consider and approve fundamental issues of the nation including the government’s report on national agenda on addressing economic and finance difficulties, the government’s report on national agenda on addressing drug issues ad consider and approve amendments to laws related to the national agendas including Law on Tax Management, Law on Value Added Tax, Law on Income Tax, Law on Excise Tax, and Law on Narcotic Drugs,” said President of the National Assembly Xaysomphone Phomvihane.
The government is expected to report to the National Assembly about the Covid-19 outbreak situation and mitigation measures against the impacts of Covid-19.
