Notice of Meeting: U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy

The U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy will meet in open session in Room 2255 of the Russell Senate Office Building (Independence Avenue between First Street SW and South. Capitol Street) in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, March 16 from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The Commission Members will welcome a panel of experts to discuss “The Past, Present, and Future of Voice of America.”

The meeting will feature the following specialists:

Amanda Bennett, VOA Director

Geoffrey Cowan, former VOA Director

James Glassman, former Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs and Chairman of the BBG

The meeting is open to the public, Members and staff of Congress, federal government officials, the media, and representatives from non-governmental organizations. To make any requests for reasonable accommodation, please e-mail by noon on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

The United States Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy appraises U.S. Government activities intended to understand, inform, and influence foreign publics. The Advisory Commission may conduct studies, inquiries, and meetings, as it deems necessary. It may assemble and disseminate information and issue reports and other publications, subject to the approval of the Chairperson, in consultation with the Executive Director. The Advisory Commission may undertake foreign travel in pursuit of its studies and coordinate, sponsor, or oversee projects, studies, events, or other activities that it deems desirable and necessary in fulfilling its functions.
