Over 130 booths of the One District, One Products (ODOP) are on display at the 4th ODOP Fair 2017, which was officially opened at Lao ITECC in Vientiane Capital, on May 29.
TheODOP Fair 2017 startedon May 26 and will last until June 1, and is expected to generate more than 3 billion kip in sales, including ODOP and other products. It features a wide range of ODOP products produced in Vientiane, ranging from agricultural products to industrial goods.
Present at the opening ceremony were Head of Vientiane Commerce and Industry Department Berlin Phetchantharath, invited guests and officials from Lao World Public Company Limited and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Berlin said that the exhibition would result in the creation ofa database on the ODOPs of the country aiming to promote them to have proper standards, quality, capacity and effect.
This event will help us to select the best ODOP products that will also lead to sustainable development for better access to the target markets, he said.
So far, a total of 484 products have been acknowledged by the department from 17 provinces and the capital, and more than 130 business units have been awarded ODOP trademarks from the Trade Department under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
