In support of the Our Ocean conference, Discovery Education will broadcast an “Our Ocean, One Future Virtual Field Trip,” as part of their Of the People series.
Participants will have a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn about the challenges facing our ocean and will view exclusive footage of the meeting between U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and high school students during which they discussed ocean protection and environmental issues.
This 30-minute virtual field trip is the latest in the Of the People series, a collaboration between the White House and Discovery Education.
Other experts participating in the virtual field trip include Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Cathy Novelli, Science and Technology Adviser to the Secretary of State Dr. Vaughan Turekian, and Chief Scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Dr. Richard W. Spinrad.
This virtual field trip will be available to watch anytime, starting at 7 a.m. ET on September 14, 2016. To learn more and register a class, go to DiscoveryEducation.com/OfThePeople.
Additionally, at 1:00 p.m. on September 14, 2016, students will be able to participate in a live Twitter chat with Dr. Vaughan Turekian using @STASatState and #OfthePeople.
Secretary Kerry will host the third Our Ocean conference September 15-16, 2016, in Washington, D.C., to promote action to protect our ocean from threats – including unsustainable and illegal fishing, marine pollution, and climate-related impacts – and empower a new generation to lead the way toward a healthier and more sustainable ocean.
