Over 2,000 journalists register for covering 20th CPC National Congress

Around 2,500 Chinese and foreign journalists have registered for covering the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) which is scheduled to be opened on October 16.
Among the registered journalists, around 150 are from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and around 750 from foreign countries, according to the Press Centre for the 20th CPC National Congress.
The 20th CPC National Congress is an event of great significance to be held at a crucial moment as China embarks on a new journey toward building a modern socialist country in all respects and advances toward its Second Centenary Goal.
It is an important event in the political life of the Communist Party of China and China, drawing widespread attention both at home and from abroad.
The congress, to be attended by 2,300 delegates representing 38 electoral units across China, will review the work of the Party over the past five years, hear and examine the reports of the CPC’s Central Committee and Central Commission for Disciplinary Inspection, and set roadmap for both the Party and government of China.
The congress is also expected to discuss and decide on major issues of the Party, amend the Party Constitution and elect new CPC central leadership.
