(KPL) Unitel, a telecom company, and Hongsa Power Company presented yesterday 1 billion kip and almost 300 kip, respectively, to Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone to be used as relief aid for flood victims in central and southern Laos.
Between late August and early September, storms brought severe floods to six provinces namely Khammuan, Savannakhet, Saravan, Xekong, Attapeu and Champassak.
The flooding is the worst for the region since 1978.
On Oct 14, Laung Namtha province donated 100 million kip to support relief and recovery efforts in flood-hit provinces.
The handover of the donation package was held in Vientiane between Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Khampheng Saysompheng and Vice Governor of Luang Namtha Province, Mr Khamlay Sipaseurth.
We hope our contribution will help relieve the suffering of flood victims, said Mr Khamlay Sipaseurth.
