Party Central Committee’s midterm plenary meeting held

The midterm plenary meeting of the 11th Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee was held in Vientiane between August 14-18.

Chaired by Party Secretary General Thongloun Sisoulith, the meeting discussed and considered several important issues.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of the resolution of the 11th National Congress of the Party, the 9th five-year National Socio-economic Development Plan and the two national agendas on addressing financial and economic difficulties and drug issues.

The meeting also considered a draft resolution on further promoting and deepening the implementation of the innovation policy, creating a strong, profound and comprehensive change in the leadership of the Party.

The participants noted that directions set forth at the 11th National Congress of the Party are correct, meet the aspirations of the people and win thrust and receive constant support from friendly countries.

Under the leadership of the Party Central Committee, the management by the government and local administrations and the monitoring of the National Assembly and provincial people’s councils and political organizations, the nation continues to have strong political stability, the society enjoys peace and security, and the economy enjoys a constant growth.

The meeting noted that the multiethnic Lao people have uphold patriotism, traditional harmony, believed in Party’s leadership and the future of the nation, and have actively participated in the national development cause.

The meeting agreed that future efforts will be focused on further ensuring political stability, creating foundation for national graduation from a least developed country status, promoting Party’s leadership to deepen the implementation of innovation policy, continuing to promote economic growth in line with the green and sustainable development trends, and poverty reduction.
