People’s representatives urged to address frequent lottery sale problem

People’s concern about the fact that lottery is sold frequently was raised at the ongoing 10th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly with people’s representatives urged to seek possible solutions to the problem.

“Lottery is among talk-of-the-town problems that general public members are urging the National Assembly to address,” Deputy President of the Lao Front for National Development Khamchanh Phomsengsavanh told the National Assembly’s 10th Ordinary Session on Nov 16.

“As for some lotteries, drawings are held fourth times a day, or every hour from 16:30 to 19:30 hours, while domestic lottery is drawn twice a week. This seems a lot and engages people in gambling lifestyle,” she said.

The public members also asked the national assembly to address the rising prices of consumer goods at local markets.

“This poses direct impacts on the living conditions of general public members and civil servants,” said Mr Khamchanh.

Raising the salary of civil servants was also proposed at the ordinary session of the National Assembly.
