In the sepak takraw competition, the national squad failed to advance to the semi-finals for the double event against Laos in a match that took place at the Expo Hall 1 Singapore over the weekend. In the first match of Group B, the national team went against the Philippines team. Nur Alimin Sunggoh, Mohammad Shukri Jaineh and Ismail Ang represented the national team while the Philippines team was represented by Jason Huerte, Emmanuel Escote and Rheyjey Ortouste.
The national team tried to outmatch the opponent but failed to win the first set with 15-21. In the second set, the Philippines team continues to dominate the game and won the match with 21-15.
