The new Phoukhoun district urban development project, a top priority project of Luang Prabang province, needs an investment of roughly 2.3 trillion kip (US$ 279.923 million).
Phoukhou, a mountainous district, will be developed as a model district that will be relocated about 8 km away to Xieng Khouang province.
The new district will be built on 3,635 hectares, of which 729 hectares will be allocated for the district municipality, 2,219 ha for livestock raising, 69 ha for rice fields, and 617 ha for reforestation.
The cost of investment was disclosed at a meeting to conclude the progress of new urban development for Phoukhoun district on May 16 at the Division of Luang Prabang Public Works and Transport in the presence of Governor of Luang Prabang Khamkhan Chanthavisouk.
