Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh has appreciated the participation of relevant authorities, Covid-19 taskforce committees at all levels, armed forces, medical workers and people in containing the outbreak of Covid-19.
Field hospitals, including three in Vientiane with a total number of 1,200 beds, have been set up across the country within a period of less than ten days to ensure the treatment of Covid-19 patients that are rising in number.
At a press conference on the extension of the Prime Minister’s Order No. 15 in Vientiane on Wednesday, the premier commended on the assistance worth billions of kip the sectors, individuals and legal entities have provided to the government and local administrations to support Covid-19 prevention and control efforts in the country.
Over 9.5 billion kip, 13.18 million US dollars, and 4.68 million baht (Thai currency) have been also donated to the central government for procuring vaccines, and other medical equipment.
Ventilators, patient monitoring devises, CT scanners, and other medical necessaries worth more than 100 billion kip have been also donated by international community.
He noted that the provision of food, drinking water, extension of deadline for debt and rental payment and other forms of help extended to people in need by their fellows demonstrated the unity of the entire Lao people for prevention and control efforts against Covid-19 in the country.
“In general, we have fundamentally controlled the outbreak as the infection rate is gradually declining compared to earlier days of the outbreak,” said the premier.
