Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh and his delegation visited the Mittaphap Hospital, Vientiane to give encouragement and guidance to its health workers yesterday.
The premier urged the relevant authorities to attach attention to implementing the Prime Minister’s order No 15, especially the inspection and limitation of travel in risk areas and pilot treating patients with mild symptoms outside hospitals in case it leads to patient overloads.
“Realizing that the number of Covid-19 patients increases every day, the hospital has increased the number of its beds from 10 to 90 over a couple of days.
“If the number of patients is between 80 and 90, our health workers would be able to deal with it,” said Dr Sanong Thongsana, Director General, Mittaphap Hospital.
On the same day, the Prime Minister also inspected Lane Xang Indoor Stadium in Done Koi, Xaysettha district as the stadium may be turned into a field hospital in case the number of Covid-19 patients is far greater than at present.
