Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith signed on Tuesday a book of condolences in honour of late Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Van Khai.
The Prime Minister laid a wreath and signed the book at the Vietnamese Embassy in Vientiane on behalf of the Party, government, National Assembly and the Lao Front for National Development.
Pham Van Khai was born on Dec 25, 1933. He joined the revolution in 1947 and the Communist Party of Vietnam on Jul 15, 1959.
He was former member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee of the V, VI, VII, VIII, IX tenures, former Politburo member of the VII, VIII, IX tenures, permanent member of the Politburo of the VIII tenure, former Prime Minister and National Assembly deputy of the VIII, IX, X and XI tenures.
Pham Van Khai was among brilliant Vietnamese leaders who played significant contributions to the national protection and development of Vietnam over 70 years as well as to the doi moi cause of Vietnam. He also played an important role in enhancing the greath friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, governments and people of Laos and Vietnam.
Tuesday also witnessed Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith leading senior officials of the departments under the umbrella of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to lay a wreath and signed the book of condolences at the embassy of Vietnam in Vientiane.
