(KPL) On October 17, 2024, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone welcomed President of the National Assembly of Vietnam Tran Thanh Man, who is visiting Laos to attend the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45) in Vientiane.
Prime Minister Sonexay highly valued Man’s visit as an important contribution to strengthening and deepening the long-standing friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, states, and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.
The Prime Minister expressed his sympathy to the Vietnamese Party, government, and people for the severe impacts caused by Typhoon Yagi, which struck Hanoi and northern provinces, and Typhoon Soulik, which affected the central provinces of Vietnam in September.
These natural disasters resulted in significant loss of life, property damage, and infrastructure destruction.
He expressed confidence that, under the strong leadership of the Vietnamese Party and government, and with the active participation of t
he National Assembly, the Vietnamese people would overcome these challenges.
Prime Minister Sonexay also praised the remarkable achievements made by the Vietnamese people under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, particularly the successful implementation of the resolutions of the 13th Party Congress and the Five-Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan (2021-2025).
He also commended the outcomes of the recent special session of Vietnam’s 15th National Assembly in mid-August, which addressed many important national issues.
In return, Man reaffirmed his commitment to continue supporting and assisting the Lao PDR in promoting relations and cooperation between the two countries. He also wished great success for Laos’ presidency of AIPA’s 45th General Assembly.
