The Ministry of Health held a handover ceremony of 138,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine donated by Polish Government on Dec 16.

Taking part in the ceremony included Minister of Health Bounfeng Phoummalaisit and Head of Cooperation of the European Union Delegation to the Lao PDR Vincent Vire. Relevant officials of both sides witnessed the ceremony.

“The Government of the Lao PDR is pleased to receive the vaccines and would like to express thanks to the Polish government for its significant contribution to the Lao government’s efforts against the outbreak of Covid-19, especially its ongoing administration of third doses to local people,” said Dr Bounfaeng.

The vaccine donation by Poland is part of the global solidarity of the European team in supporting the Lao PDR’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and its impacts. We are pleased with this contribution as it will help the Lao government accelerate the immunization thus increasing vaccine coverage in the country, he added.
