President Bounnhang Visits China

(KPL) President Bounnhang Vorachit is on a state visit to China in response to the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

As part of his visit schedule, President will attend the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, held in Beijing on Apr 25-May1.

On Apr 25, President Bounnhang met with Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang. The President highly valued the relations and cooperation between the two countries which are based on comprehensive strategic partnership in line with the four-good principle and deepening and rising to a new level.

The Lao side highly valued the hosting of the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation by China and reaffirmed the importance of integrating Landlocked to Landlinked Nation strategy of Laos into the Belt and Road Initiative of China and highly valued the Laos-China Railway project which is the first project under the Belt and Road initiative framework for the two countries.

President Bounnhang expressed his belief that the Chinese side will continue to create favourableconditions for the export of agricultural products from Laos to China thus increasing the trade in goods between the two countries.

President Bounnhang also expressed gratitude to the Party, government and people of China for providing support and assistance to the Party, government and people of Laos to promote its socio-economic development over the past years and appreciated China upon its achievements in socio-economic development especially its comprehensive achievement in implementing Open Door policy over the past 40 years and expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China Central Committee with comrade Xi Jinping as the core, the fraternal Chinese people will record new and greater achievements in building socialism with Chinese characteristics and achieve two centenary goals adopted at the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

In reply the Chinese premier noted that Laos and China had strong relations and possessed sound cooperation potential and increasingly recorded concrete cooperation outputs.

He said that China agreed to continue to work with the Lao side to increase the exchange visits of senior officials of the two Parties and governments, enhance the traditional friendship and mutual understanding, and people to people exchange as well as to promote the establishment of partnership of shared destiny to bring concrete benefits to the people of the two countries.

He said that the Chinese side was happy to work with Laos to incorporate the Belt and Road Initiative of China into the development strategy of Laos and together implement Laos-China economic corridor, the Laos-China Railway construction project and increase the imports of agricultural products of high quality from Laos into China.
