President Bounnhang Vorachit on May 29 sent his Sri Lankan counterpart a message of condolence over the damages and loss caused by a recent flooding event in the country.
The message read:
I have learned of the powerful flooding in southwestern part of Sri Lanka, which has caused tremendous loss of lives and extensive damage to properties.
On behalf of the government and people of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and on my own behalf, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Your Excellency and through you to the government and people of Sri Lanka, particularly to those families of the victims who have been affected by the disaster.
I am confident that the government and people of Sri Lanka will be able to overcome the difficulties and restore the living condition of the victims to normalcy.
