President Bounnhang Vorachit on Jun 21 received a courtesy call from the President of the National Assembly of Cambodia Heng Samrin as the latter is on a working visit to Laos on Jun 21-23.
At the cordial talks at the Presidential Palace in Vientiane, President Bounnhang highly valued the visit to Laos by the chairman of the National Assembly of Cambodia as a significant contribution to strengthening the relations and cooperation between the two nations, especially between their two national legislative bodies.
The two countries have witnessed constantly growing cooperation and deepening relations, mostly as a result from the regular exchange of visits between high-ranking officials of the two nations.
President Bounnhang briefed the guest about the implementation of the national socio-economic development plan in Laos, noting that the country recorded political stability and a constant annual economic growth of 7.02 percent. Both domestic and foreign private investment was increased by 30 percent reaching US$3.1 billion. The number of low-income families reduced from 6.59 percent in 2015 to 6.3 percent last year.
In reply, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia Heng Samrin expressed thanks to President Bounnhang for the warm welcome extended to him and his entourage and informed the president about the objectives of his working visit to Laos.
