President Receives Credentials from New Cuban, Vietnamese Ambassadors

President Bounnhang Vorachit on Wednesday received credentials from the new ambassadors Mr Pablo Antonio of Cuba and Mr Nguyen Ba Hung of Vietnam as the two have been appointed by their respective governments to serve diplomatic tenures in the Lao PDR.

While talking with the two ambassadors, the President Bounnhang praised them upon their appointments to the posts expressing his belief that they would significantly contribute to strengthening the friendly relations and cooperation between Laos and their respective countries.

Laos and Cuba established diplomatic relations on November 4, 1974. Since then the relations and cooperation between the two countries have constantly grown. Bilateral cooperation between the two countries covers the development of human resources, economics, trade, culture, and education, among others.

Laos and Vietnam have enjoyed constant growth in their long traditional friendly relations, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation.

Next year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Laos and Vietnam and the 40th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.

A number of activities have been planned by the governments to commemorate these two historic days.

Yesterday also witnessed President Bounnhang presenting credentials to Lao diplomatic appointees including Mr Yong Chanthalangsy who will serve as Lao Ambassador to France and to Mr Kham-In Khitchadeth who will serve his diplomatic mission in Switzerland.
