President Thongloun Sisoulith has extended congratulations to his Vietnamese counterpart Vo Van Thuong on his election as State President of Vietnam.

In a message dated March 2, 2023, President Thongloun expressed his heartfelt congratulations on Vo Van Thuong’s election as President of Vietnam at the 4th extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly of Vietnam on March 2, 2023.

He said that Thuong’s appointment as President of Vietnam demonstrates the trust of the Party, government and people of Vietnam in him and affirmed his readiness to work closely with his Vietnamese counterpart to contribute to enhancing the great friendship, special solidarity and traditional comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, governments and peoples of Laos and Vietnam which was established by Great President Ho Chi Minh and beloved Presidents Kaysone Phomvihane and Souphanouvong and has been protected, nurtured and strengthened by generations of leaders of the two countries.

The President expressed his belief that with his capability and rich experiences, the Vietnamese President together with other Vietnamese leaders will lead Vietnam and its people in continuing to record unstoppable growth and pursue the overriding goal of “a prosperous people and a strong, democratic, equitable and civilized country.
