The Republic of Korea Industrial Research and Development Organisation (KIRD) has granted over 1 billion kip (US$ 121,938) to five villages in Champhone district and eight villages in Songkhone district, Savannakhet province to strengthen women’s vocational skills.
The handover ceremony was held last week with Santiphab Phomvihane, Savannakhet Governor, receiving the package from KIRD Director Chung Kiwhan in the presence of representatives of relevant authorities and beneficiary communities.
Of the total amount, 400 million kip will be presented to five villages in Champhone district and 640 million kip will be given to eight villages in Songkhone district.
The financial support will strengthen the vocational skills of women in the target villages, especially in weaving and establishing farmers’ groups, thus promoting job creation under an integrated rural development project.
