(KPL) The Republic of Korea Ambassador to Laos, Mr Shin Sung-soon hosted a reception party to celebrate the national foundation day of Korea in Vientiane on Nov 12, 2018.

Koreans celebrate the 3rd of October as their National Day. October 3rd in Korea, literally means The day when the Heaven was opened.

Every nation has a myth about its origin. Ours tells us that the son of the Heavenly Emperor descended on earth, on the Korea peninsula, and that his son established the very first kingdom of the Korean people in the year 2,333 BC, said Ambassador Shin Sung-soon.

The ambassador expressed the intent of Korea’s government to promote rural development in the Lao PDR.

With the extensive experience in rural development back in 1970s, Korea welcomes the opportunity to more closely cooperate with the Lao government, hand in hand with the Samsang Policy, said Ambassador Shin Sung-soon. I am confident that the rural development will bring new opportunities for the Lao PDR in the years to come.

More than 170,000 Korean tourists visited the Lao PDR last year. According to the recent statistics of the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism, the number increased by 27 per cent compared to the same period last year.

It is expected that more than 200,000 Korean tourists will visit the Lao PDR during Visit Laos Year 2018.
