Rice farmers’ groups in Paksan, Thaphabath and Borikhan districts, Borikhamxay Province have been provided with farming machines under a Laos-World Bank cooperation programme.
The equipment assistance aimed to promote increased rice productivity in the three districts ensuring the rice production of local farmers is modernised and of high quality.
A handover for the equipment assistance took place at the Borikhamxay Provincial Department of Agriculture and Forestry on May 31 in the presence of Deputy Governor of Borikhamxay Province Bounseng Pathammavong, Deputy Director of the Borikhamxay Provincial Department of Agriculture and Forestry Phatthachone Keophoutthavong and representatives of relevant authorities and beneficiary groups.
The beneficiaries included seven rice producers’ groups in Paksan, three rice producers’ groups in Thaphabath and one rice producers’ group in Borikhan.
They were given 23 tractors, three combine harvesters, one farm truck, one rice thresher and spare engines along with rice seed mats.
