The Russian Helicopters Holding Company (part of Rostec State Corporation) has handed a batch of four Mi17 helicopters over to the Ministry of National Defense.
The handover ceremony took place at the air base in Vientiane on Jul 12. The helicopters were repaired by a mobile group of specialists of JSC 356 ARP, which is part of the Holding Company.
Deputy Minister of National Defense, Lt. Phouvong Vongphom, Sergey Lobanov, Attache of the Russian Embassy to Laos, Sergey Gusev, Director for AfterSales Services of Russian Helicopters and relevant officials took part in the event.
This achievement of repair will be a major contribution to the implementation of the two strategic tasks of national safeguarding and development, said Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Lao People’s Army.

We deliver four repaired Mi17 helicopters to our Lao partners. We received significant joint experience, because it was our first onsite repair contract with the Lao side. Our specialists performed the work on the body at the air base, and main accessories were restored at certified facilities of the Holding in Russia. It should be mentioned that repair works were implemented by highlyexperienced 356 ARZ team, which is a part of our holding, at the Lao air base, Mr Sergey Gusev mentioned.
During the ceremony, Lt. Phouvong Vongphom inspected the repaired Mi17 helicopters and a crew of the Lao Air Force performed a demonstration flight in a repaired helicopter.
The Lao aviation fleet comprises over 20 civil and military helicopters produced by the Holding Company’s enterprises. In addition to Mi8/17 type helicopters, the country operates medium utility Ka32T helicopters.
