Savannaket: Twenty-Two Disabled People Receive Prosthetic Arms

Twenty-two disabled people from Savannaket Province received prosthetic arms on February 23 at the Center for Medical Rehabilitation in Kaysone district.

All of the people were disabled due to UXO accidents, according to Mr Bouakhone Phengphakdy, the project coordinator of the Laos Rotary Club.

Some recipients received only one arm, but in cases where both arms had been lost, prosthetics were provided for both, according to Mr Bouakhone.

The Australian Rotary Club, for the first time, donated 200 prosthetic arms to help people in Laos living with disabilities.

Almost 40 disabled people received prosthetic arms on February 20. They came from Xieng Khuang (13 people), Luang Prabang (five people), and Vientiane Capital (20 people).

Twelve Australian people from Australian Rotary Club will go to Pakse and Champassak Province on February 24 to provide prosthetic arms to disabled people. Over 60 disabled people in Champassak Province are expected to receive the prosthetic arms.
