Savannakhet Signs Agreement for 265 Billion Kip Mekong Embankment Phase II

Savanakhet Provincial Authorities last week signed an agreement to allow a contractor to implement the Mekong embankment project phase II in Kaysone Phomvihane district.

Signatories to the agreement were Director of Savannakhet Provincial Public Works and Transport Department Pasongsin Chaleunsouk and Director of Sengvixay Group Thongla Sengvixay. The event was witnessed by representatives of relevant authorities.

The 265 billion kip (US$ 32,204,294) embankment project will involve the construction of a 1.19 km-long embankment stretching between Sala Mekong and Longkong delta, a drainage system, a footpath, a public park and the installation of street lamps. The project is expected to be completed in 60 months.

The Kaisone Phomvihane Mekong embankment development project is a priority of Savannakhet Province and is in line with the provincial plan on basic infrastructure development along Mekong for 2015-2020, said Souksangoane Xayavong, Director of Water Sector under the Savannakhet Public Works and Transport Department.
