Minister of Science and Technology Boviengkham Vongdara has called on officials, students, researchers and scientists to continue their research and broaden their knowledge to benefit the science and technology development in Laos.
The establishment of the Ministry of Science and Technology in September 2011 has become a new step in promoting the development in the science and technology sector in our country, Mr Boviengkham told a press conference on the occasion of National Science Day (October 12) in Vientiane on Oct 10, 2018.
The Ministry of Science and Technology has achieved developing infrastructure as well as upgrading three science institutes equipped with laboratories of bio-energy, renewable energy and new materials, said Minister Boviengkham.
A large data centre with a capacity of up to 400 TB has been developed. It is equipped with modern technology and considered as the most energy-efficient and modern data centre in our country, and among modern data centres in the Asia-Pacific region.
The ministry’s strategic plan 2015-2025 focuses on developing scientific and technological innovations, human resource development, and the development of science and technology centres in rural areas as well as strengthening cooperation with regional and international bodies.
The Ministry of Science and Technology also seek stronger cooperation with Vietnam, China, Thailand, Japan, Cambodia, R. Korea and Malaysia.
