Singapore government has awarded the 2018 ASEAN Scholarship to Miss Kounlasatty Manivong to pursue high school and pre-university studies in Singapore for the Academic Year 2019.
Miss Kounlasatty, aged 15, a student at Kiettisack International School.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore Dominic Goh hosted the ASEAN Scholarship awarded ceremony for the scholar and her family on Oct 18, 2018 at the Singaporean Embassy in Vientiane.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives of the Kiettisack International School.
Ambassador Dominic Goh congratulated Kounlasatty for being awarded with the ASEAN Scholarship as she had performed well in the selection tests and interview. He wished her well in her studies and living in Singapore.
The ambassador also took the opportunity to express thank to the Ministries and Schools in making the selection a success.
“I am happy and very proud to have the opportunity to pursue high school and pre-university studies in Singapore. I had studied hard and prepared myself for the scholarship, said Miss Kounlasatty.
I would like to thank my teachers and my family who have supported me, and the Singaporean government, Miss Kounlasatty.
The ASEAN scholarships are in line with Singapore Government’s long-term objective of assisting our ASEAN neighbours to develop their human resource. The scholarship is offered to outstanding students in ASEAN to study in high schools and junior colleges in Singapore.
The ASEAN Secondary three scholarships for Lao PDR recruited the first batch of students in 2001. To date, 29 students from Laos have been awarded the ASEAN Scholarship.
