Singapore’s 52nd National Day Marked in Vientiane

Ambassador Dominic Goh hosted in Vientiane on Aug 10 a reception to mark the 52nd anniversary of Singaporean National Day.

More than 300 Lao government officials, Singaporean nationals, business people and foreign diplomatic officials attended the function.

Minister of Health Assoc. Prof. Dr Bounkong Syhavong and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Khamphao Ernthavanh were the Guests-of-Honour.

Six students of Ambassador’s spouse Mrs Sharon Goh from the National School of Performing Arts of Singapore also presented a few short dances.

Since 2012, the embassy has asked guests to donate to a selected charity in lieu of sending flowers for the National Day Reception.

To celebrate Singapore’s 52nd Birthday, the embassy worked with the Association of Autism and managed to raise more than USD 3,000. This money will go to developing their programmes and helping children with autism.
