In feverish anticipation of Maureen Disini’s first solo show on Aug. 24, fashion folk seem to be on the lookout for hints that may betray the designer’s collection.
In an attempt to learn a little more about the collection, we visited Disini’s studio and were introduced to a gorgeous set of characters: stark whites rendered in the daintiest of lace; a welcome surprise of feathers that populated another similarly lacy number; and an abundance of tulle.
She said that the show will be a harmonious mix of prints, textures and patterns. You’ll also be seeing a lot of romantic full skirts and wasp waists.
In light of Disini’s seeming departure from her known forms and silhouettes, we spoke to other key people involved in the creative process for next week’s event.
Ariel Lozada, director
This show is about a debut fashion collection for Maureen. The presentation is going to be direct to the point and almost a presentation in nature-no fuss, just straightforward.
Gian Romano, stylist
Expect to see what Maureen does best. It’s a showcase of femininity and the different types of Maureen Disini women.
