Special Representative for International Labor Affairs Sarah Fox is traveling to Burma and Cambodia through October 5. In Burma, she is joining government, business, labor and other civil society stakeholders for the second Stakeholders’ Forum on Labor Law Reform and Institutional Capacity Building as part of the Initiative to Promote Fundamental Labor Rights and Practices in Myanmar. The Initiative includes the governments of Burma, the United States, Japan, and Denmark plus the European Union and the International Labor Organization (ILO), and is intended to help modernize Burma’s labor code, improve compliance with international labor standards, and foster a robust dialogue between the government, business, labor, and civil society. In Cambodia, Special Representative Fox will meet with senior leaders from government, labor, civil society organizations, and the private sector to raise freedom of association and collective bargaining, the promotion of decent work, and inclusive economic growth.
