Startup Weekend Helps Young People to Run Businesses in Laos

The 5th Startup Weekend was held in Vientiane Capital Last Friday, with the theme “No Talk, All Action” to help young people to kick off new businesses in the Lao PDR.

The objective of the 45-hour programme aimed at promoting business environment reforms for young people in the Lao PDR, said the Founder and Managing Director of TOHLAO Co-working Space and Services, Ms Souphaphone Souannavong.

“The Startup Weekend is an intensive introduction into startup businesses; everything starts in 45 hours. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 45-hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation,” she added.

The main points of the programme were to focus on: unique business ideas, viability, relevance, product and services description, impact, market need, competitor analysis description, opportunities, target market definition, marketing plan nature, objectives, start-up costs and financials.
