(KPL) A storm hit several parts of the country, mostly northern provinces, causing damages to hundreds of houses, including 80 houses in Nonghed district in Xieng Khuang and 70 houses in Pakngum district of Vientiane, on Feb 21-22.
The storm hit Viengkham district, Luang Prabang on Thursday’s evening leaving severe damages to a number of houses and injuries to one local.
Twenty four houses in Med district, Vientiane Province, were severely damaged by the storm on Feb 21.
Relevant authorities have inspected the side and evaluated damages caused for possible help.
On Thursday, Feb 22, Vientiane Mayor Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune accompanied by Director of Labour and Social Welfare of Vientiane Lamphoy Si-akkhachan and Governor of Pakngum district Vongdeuan Bounyaseng visited areas damaged by the natural disaster in Paknum district, Vientiane.
The storm caused severe damages to the roof of Done Sangphay Primary School and badly damaged three houses in the district.
The mayor’s delegation presented 20 million kip cash along with 500 iron roofing sheets to local people as a relief package. The mayor also urged Pakngum authorities to work with relevant sectors to evaluate the damage caused and provide immediate assistance to victims’ families.
