Students and job seekers are flocking to the Mega Job Fair 2017, which is being held at the National Convention Center in Vientiane Capital since April 28.
The fair is aimed at giving job seekers an opportunity to meet employers and apply for new jobs, said Head of Labour and Social Welfare Department, Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, Ms Lamphone Siackkhachanh.
The event is part of the country’s efforts to solve unemployment and labour shortage, and provide knowledge and understanding to job seekers about the Mega Job Fair.
The job fair was also held to welcome the coming International Workers’ Day and to disseminate labour law, the Labour Strategy Development Plan 2011-2020, and the socio-economic development plan for 2016-2020.
This year, 106 booths are on display and more than 1,500 job seekers and students are expected to show up.
The fair will run until April 30 and starts at 9:00 am and closes at 5:00 pm.
An opening ceremony was held in the presence of the Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Mr Khampheng Xaysompheng and Vientiane Vice Mayor, Mr Keophilavanh Aphaylath.
