A summer storm reportedly hit two villages in Namor district, Oudomxay Province last week and caused considerable damage to 50 houses and schools.
Head of Tao village, Mr Savad revealed on March 14 that the summer storm hit his village and Nhae village violently at about 6 pm on March 9. The cost of the damage is estimated to be around 100 million kip (over US$12,000).
“Presently, storm-affected victims are repairing their houses and schools and working to restore life to normalcy,” Mr Savad said.
Deputy Chief of Namor district, Mr Somchanh Thavihak and his delegation went there to take notice of the situation and donated blankets and clothes worth more than two million kip (about US$250) to the victims.
The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology recently issued a public warning about summer storms and to be prepared for sudden storms that might result due to climate change.
