The Lao Journalists Association (LJA) has signed with the Institute of Physical Education Phetchabun Campus and the Phetchabun Radio and Television Broadcasters Association an MoU pledging the provision of scholarships by the Thai institute to journalists affiliated to the LJA.
Signatories to the MoU were Vice President of LJA Mr. Sipha Nonglath, Vice Rector of the Institute of Physical Education Phetchabun, Assoc. Prof. Santi Sittijanda, and President of the Phetchabun Radio and Television Broadcasters Association Mr. Vilittapol Hiranrat.
Under the MoU, 10 scholarships will be provided for bachelor degrees in sports journalism and 5 scholarships for bachelor degrees in sports management.
The MoU signing took place on Feb 15, on the sidelines of the working visit to the province by a delegation of the Lao Journalists Association led by its President Savankhone Razmountry.
Since 2015, the Thai institute has provided 32 scholarships to Lao journalists.
On the occasion, Mr Savankhone Razmountry, who is also Vice Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism expressed gratitude to the Thai institute for its support to the human resource development in the Lao media sector noting that such assistance has contributed to promoting the cooperation between Laos and Thailand.
He also pledged to promote people-to-people and lesson exchanges between the two countries.
